Joiada is named as the son of Eliashib in Nehemiah’s genealogical record.
Joiada son of Eliashib is a man named in Nehemiah as the son of Eliashib, who is called the high priest in one passage (Nehemiah 13:28). Nehemiah’s record states that Eliashib fathered Joiada and that Joiada fathered Jonathan (Nehemiah 12:10; Nehemiah 12:11).
Joiada is also listed among figures in whose days Levites were recorded as heads of fathers (Nehemiah 12:22). Another passage says that one of Joiada’s sons was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite and was driven away (Nehemiah 13:28). Joiada is named in at least four verses, all in Nehemiah.
