   In 1 Samuel 17:5, the plural absolute form occurs in the description of bronze equipment worn on the body. The APB renders the verse "scale armor he was clothed with," identifying an armor application rather than water-creature scales.

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across the water-creature instructions, the APB repeatedly presents the relevant feature as "scale" alongside "fin." In Ezekiel 29:4 it uses "scales," and in 1 Samuel 17:5 it uses "scale armor"; these are verse-level renderings rather than definitions.
