le.vav denotes the inner heart as the place of thought, humility or arrogance, and human-mindedness.

The attested use presents the heart as a person's inner disposition and thought: it is associated with thoughts, can be lifted up or humbled, can be made like that of beasts, and can be given as a human heart.

   In Daniel 2:30, the construct form occurs in the clause about knowing the thoughts of the king's heart. In Daniel 5:20, Daniel 5:21, and Daniel 5:22, the construct forms occur where a heart is lifted up, made like that of beasts, or not humbled; Daniel 7:4 places the form in the giving of a heart of a man. Daniel 4:13 contains two construct forms in the report of visions upon the speaker's head, though the APB does not isolate their individual contribution.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB explicitly uses "heart" in Daniel 2:30, Daniel 5:20, Daniel 5:21, Daniel 5:22, and Daniel 7:4, connecting it with thoughts, pride, humility, beast-like condition, and humanity. In Daniel 4:13 it renders the verse in terms of visions and head without making the contribution of either occurrence clear.
