Humneo describes praising through singing, whether by a group, by Paul and Silas, or within a congregation.

The attested verses consistently show praise expressed through singing: after singing a hymn, in ongoing singing to God, and in a future declaration of praise within the congregation.

1. Praise expressed in singing · dominant

   In Mark 14:26 and Matthew 26:30, the aorist active participle occurs before the group goes out to the Mount of Olives; the APB renders the clause "after they had sung a hymn." In Acts 16:25, the imperfect active indicative plural describes Paul and Silas praying and singing hymns to God, while Hebrews 2:12 uses a future active indicative singular for singing praise in the midst of the congregation.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the action as having "sung a hymn" in Mark 14:26 and Matthew 26:30, as "singing hymns to God" in Acts 16:25, and as "sing your praise" in Hebrews 2:12. These are verse-level renderings rather than definitions.
