Senses in use

  1. Sharing or participating with others · dominant

In Ephesians 3:6, the accusative plural neuter form συμμέτοχα occurs in the description of Gentiles as co-heirs and members of the same body; the APB renders the clause “sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” In Ephesians 5:7, the nominative plural masculine form συμμέτοχοι stands in the prohibition against joining with “them”; the APB renders “do not become partners with them.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the two clauses with “sharers in the promise” in Ephesians 3:6 and “partners with them” in Ephesians 5:7. These are translation renderings of the clauses rather than definitions.
