The attested usage describes dwelling or residing in relation to a group or location: the Word among the speakers, inhabitants in heaven, and God with humanity.

   In John 1:14, the aorist active indicative occurs in the clause where the Word became flesh and dwelt among the speaker group. The present active participles in Revelation 12:12 and Revelation 13:6 identify those dwelling in heaven, while the future active indicatives in Revelation 21:3 and Revelation 7:15 concern God’s stated future relation to humanity and those before the throne; the APB presents the latter verse as sheltering with his presence.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB uses “dwelt” in John 1:14 and “dwell” in Revelation 12:12, Revelation 13:6, and Revelation 21:3. In Revelation 7:15 it instead presents the clause as “will shelter them with his presence”.
