   In Acts 14:20, an aorist active participle occurs as the disciples gather about him; in John 10:24, the aorist active indicative describes the Jews closing in around him before speaking. In Luke 21:20, a present passive participle describes Jerusalem as encircled by armies; the APB renders the clause "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies."

2. Marching around walls · rare

   In Hebrews 11:30, an aorist passive participle is used in the account of Jericho's walls falling after the people moved around them. The APB renders the clause "after the people had marched around them for seven days."

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the enclosing uses with "gathered about," "surrounded," and "surrounded by armies," while Hebrews 11:30 describes people who "had marched around" the walls. These are verse-level renderings rather than definitions.
