kathos is a conjunction that links actions, states, or statements by comparison or correspondence in Scripture.

As a conjunction, it joins a clause or phrase to a corresponding example, pattern, condition, or statement: believers are urged to act in keeping with what another has done, and assertions are set alongside what is written, known, taught, or willed.

   The conjunction introduces a matching action or standard: in 1 Corinthians 11:1 the APB renders an appeal to imitate Paul in relation to Christ, and in 1 John 2:6 it compares a believer's walk with the way “that one walked.” It also links statements to a written, known, or preceding pattern, as in 1 Corinthians 1:31 (“as it is written”), 1 Corinthians 12:11 (distribution according to the Spirit's will), and 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (encouragement corresponding to what the readers are doing).
