The term most often qualifies a wide range of things as heavenly, including things discussed in contrast with earthly ones, a calling and gift, a kingdom, and a city; it also repeatedly occurs in the Ephesians phrase that the APB renders “heavenly places” or “heavenly realms.”

The term qualifies the “heavenly things” set against earthly things in John 3:12 and the heavenly realities distinguished from copies in Hebrews 8:5. It also describes a heavenly calling and gift in Hebrews 3:1 and Hebrews 6:4, and in Hebrews 11:16 the APB renders the desired country as “a heavenly one.”

The setting called heavenly places · common
The dative plural neuter form repeatedly occurs in the setting that the APB renders “the heavenly places”: Christ is seated there in Ephesians 1:20, believers are seated there with him in Ephesians 2:6, and rulers and authorities are there in Ephesians 3:10. Ephesians 6:12 places spiritual forces of evil in what the APB calls “the heavenly realms.”
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB commonly presents the term with “heavenly,” including “heavenly things,” “heavenly places,” “heavenly kingdom,” and “heavenly Jerusalem.” In Ephesians 6:12 it uses “heavenly realms”; these are translation renderings of whole clauses.
