As a function word, γε occurs in statements and conditional clauses where the surrounding wording presents an assertion or condition with reinforcement; the APB sometimes marks this with “indeed” or “if indeed,” while elsewhere its contribution is not separately visible.

1. Reinforcing assertion or condition · dominant

   In Acts 2:18 the APB renders, “And indeed upon my male servants and my female servants in those days I will pour out from my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.” In Colossians 1:23 and Ephesians 3:2, the APB frames the following statements with “if indeed,” while Matthew 17:26 presents the conclusion, “Then the sons are indeed free.”
