Apantao describes a person encountering someone else, whether expected in the city or occurring as Jesus enters a village.

The two attested clauses show persons encountering someone else: a man is expected to encounter the disciples in the city, and ten men encounter Jesus as he enters a village.

1. Encountering someone in an approach or arrival · dominant

   In Mark 14:13, the future active singular form occurs in the instruction that a man carrying a jar of water will encounter the two disciples in the city. In Luke 17:12, the aorist active plural form describes ten leprous men encountering Jesus as he enters a village; the APB renders the clauses with “will meet you” and “met him.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents both clauses with forms of “meet”: “will meet you” in Mark 14:13 and “met him” in Luke 17:12. These render the clauses rather than establish separate lexical uses.
