Bodily Purity

For Bodily Purity, the Bible contains language that recurs in at least 11 verses across Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Leviticus calls a man’s bodily discharge unclean and gives instruction concerning emissions, washing, garments, and impurity until evening (Leviticus 15:2; Leviticus 15:16; Leviticus 15:17). It also describes blood discharge and states that those who touch a woman during her impurity are unclean until evening (Leviticus 15:19; Leviticus 15:25). One instruction restricts a descendant of Aaron with a discharge from eating holy things until he is clean (Leviticus 22:4). Deuteronomy specifies washing with water before returning to the camp at evening (Deuteronomy 23:11).
