Leah’s maidservant, given to Jacob as a wife and named as the mother of Gad and Asher.
Zilpah is the maidservant Laban gave to Leah, whom Leah later gave to Jacob as a wife (Genesis 29:24; Genesis 30:9). She bore Jacob a son and then a second son (Genesis 30:10; Genesis 30:12). Genesis identifies Gad and Asher as Zilpah’s sons (Genesis 35:26). Joseph is described as being with the sons of Zilpah among his brothers (Genesis 37:2). Zilpah is named in at least 7 verses in Genesis, from Genesis 29:24 through Genesis 46:18.
