A Temanite counted among Job’s three friends in the book of Job.
Eliphaz is a Temanite named among Job’s three friends, who came to mourn with and comfort Job after hearing of his distress (Job 2:11). The book introduces speeches from Eliphaz with the formula that he “answered and said” (Job 4:1; Job 15:1; Job 22:1).
After the LORD spoke to Job, the LORD told Eliphaz that his anger burned against him and his two neighbors because they had not spoken rightly as Job had (Job 42:7). Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar then did as the LORD had spoken to them, and the LORD accepted Job (Job 42:9). Eliphaz is named in at least 6 verses in Job.
