Amos

Amos in the Bible is a man first named among the shepherds from Tekoa, who saw concerning Israel (Amos 1:1). He is named in at least 7 verses, all in the book of Amos.

Amos tells Amaziah that he is neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but a herdsman and gatherer of sycamores (Amos 7:14). In one passage, the LORD asks Amos what he sees, and he answers, “A plumbline” (Amos 7:8). In another, Amos answers that he sees a basket of summer fruit (Amos 8:2). Amaziah calls Amos a seer and tells him to flee to Judah and prophesy there (Amos 7:12).
