Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, accused Amos before Jeroboam and told Amos to leave for Judah.
Amaziah priest of Bethel is the priest who sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, accusing Amos of conspiracy and saying that the land could not sustain Amos's words (Amos 7:10). He then addressed Amos as a seer and told him to flee to Judah, eat food there, and prophesy there (Amos 7:12). Amos replied to Amaziah that he was a herdsman and gatherer of sycamores, not a prophet or a prophet's son (Amos 7:14).
