Amos priest

Amaziah priest of Bethel

priest People also: Amaziah

Amaziah is named as the priest of Bethel who spoke against Amos and told him to leave for Judah.

Amaziah priest of Bethel in the Bible is the priest who sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel concerning Amos. In Amos 7:10, he says that Amos has conspired against the king and that the land cannot sustain Amos’s words. Amaziah then addresses Amos as “Seer,” telling him to flee to Judah, eat food there, and prophesy there (Amos 7:12). Amos answers Amaziah that he is not a prophet or a prophet’s son, but a herdsman and gatherer of sycamores (Amos 7:14). Amaziah is named in at least 3 verses in Amos.
