Akkub is a person named in Nehemiah’s list of those who helped the people understand the law and in accounts of gatekeepers. The name occurs in at least four verses in Nehemiah. A gatekeeper list includes “the sons of Akkub” (Nehemiah 7:45). Akkub is also named among those who helped the people understand the law (Nehemiah 8:7). Another passage names Akkub with Talmon and their brothers as watchers at the gates (Nehemiah 11:19). Nehemiah further lists Akkub among keepers and gatekeepers maintaining custody in the storehouses of the gates (Nehemiah 12:25).
