ats.mon is a proper place name marking a point along the southern border route in Scripture.

The term is used as a proper place name in boundary descriptions: the border passes through it or turns from it on the way toward the torrent of Egypt.

   In Numbers 34:4 the proper noun occurs where the border is said to pass through the place after Hazar-addar; in Numbers 34:5 it is the point from which the border turns toward the torrent of Egypt. Joshua 15:4 likewise places it on a route that extends to the torrent of Egypt; the APB renders the place name "Azmon" in each verse.
