The attested uses describe things caught together in a close interlacing: roots upon a heap in Job 8:17 and people compared with entangled thorns in Nahum 1:10.

   In Job 8:17, the Pual imperfect plural form describes roots upon a heap; the APB renders the clause "His roots interweave upon a heap." In Nahum 1:10, the Qal passive participle plural describes those compared to thorns; the APB renders them "entangled like thorns."
