lim.mud describes those identified as learners under instruction and, in other contexts, as habituated to a course of conduct.

The prevailing use identifies people in relation to instruction: those whose ears are awakened to hear, those among whom instruction is sealed, and children described in relation to the LORD. Two Jeremiah descriptions extend the observed use to being characterized by a setting or repeated conduct.

   In Isaiah 50:4, two masculine plural absolute forms occur as the speaker receives a tongue and an awakened ear; the APB renders the verse with “the tongue of disciples” and hearing “as disciples do.” In Isaiah 8:16, the masculine plural construct form occurs where testimony is bound and instruction sealed “among my disciples,” while Isaiah 54:13 describes the children in relation to the LORD.

   In Jeremiah 13:23, the masculine plural construct form occurs in the address to people who do evil; the APB renders the clause “you who are accustomed to doing evil.” In Jeremiah 2:24, a masculine singular construct form appears in the description of a wild donkey and the wilderness; the APB renders “A wild donkey, disciple of the wilderness.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB uses “disciples” in the Isaiah verses and also in its wilderness description in Jeremiah 2:24, but renders the Jeremiah 13:23 clause as “accustomed to doing evil.” This variation is treated as a presentation of the clauses rather than as separate English equivalents.
