Senses in use

  1. Empty content in false prophetic messages · dominant

In Jeremiah 14:14, the noun occurs in the list of what the prophets are prophesying after the LORD denies sending, commanding, or speaking to them. The APB renders the list as “a vision of falsehood, divination, worthlessness, and the deceit of their own hearts”; The term's individual English correspondence remains uncertain.

In the Anselm Project Bible: In Jeremiah 14:14, the APB includes “worthlessness” in its description of the prophets’ message. That rendering cannot isolate the term with certainty.
