Chorion denotes a locality, whether a named site or land treated as property for ownership and sale.

The term most often identifies a particular locality, including the place called Akeldama, the place near Sychar, and Gethsemane. It also occurs for land or properties in contexts of ownership, sale, and proceeds.

1. A specified site or locality · dominant

   In Acts 1:19 the accusative singular forms occur where the place is called Akeldama; in John 4:5 the genitive singular is used for the place Jacob gave to Joseph. Mark 14:32 and Matthew 26:36 likewise place Jesus and the disciples at the locality called Gethsemane, where he tells them to remain while he prays.

2. Land held as property · common

   The plural forms in Acts 4:34 occur with owners selling places or homes, while Acts 5:3 and Acts 5:8 concern the proceeds and sale price of a singular holding. In Acts 28:7 the nominative plural refers to properties belonging to Publius in that region.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB commonly presents the term as “place,” including named locations in Acts 1:19 and Gethsemane in Mark 14:32, Matthew 26:36. In ownership contexts it also uses “properties” and speaks of selling a “place”; these are verse-level renderings, not definitions.
