Philadelpheia names the location addressed among the assemblies and identified as the assembly’s setting.

The term is used as a place name: it occurs in the list of assemblies receiving a scroll and in the address to the angel of the assembly located there.

   In Revelation 1:11, the accusative singular form occurs in the destination list for the scroll; the APB renders the list as including “Philadelphia.” In Revelation 3:7, the dative singular form identifies the location of the assembly whose angel is addressed; the APB renders “the assembly in Philadelphia.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the term as “Philadelphia” in the list of assemblies in Revelation 1:11 and in the phrase “the assembly in Philadelphia” in Revelation 3:7. These renderings fit the verses’ location language.
