sandalion denotes footwear that people are instructed to put on or wear.

The attested use denotes footwear in instructions to put it on or wear it: an angel directs a man to put it on in Acts 12:8, and travelers are told to wear it in Mark 6:9.

   Both occurrences use an accusative plural neuter form in directives about clothing. In Acts 12:8 the APB renders the instruction, "Dress yourself and put on your sandals," while in Mark 6:9 it renders the direction that they were to "wear sandals."
