Hode, hede points to a particular message, place, or person identified in its immediate clause.

The attested forms point to something specific in the immediate context: most often the content introduced by “says” in declarations, and also a particular city or person within a narrative clause.

1. Pointing out a specific referent · dominant

   The neuter plural form Τάδε occurs with a speaker’s declaration: in Acts 21:11 the APB renders the prophecy-opening clause “This says the Holy Spirit,” while in Revelation 2:1, Revelation 3:7, and Revelation 3:14 it introduces what the named speaker says. The feminine singular form τήνδε identifies the proposed destination in James 4:13, where the APB renders “this city.” In Luke 10:39, τῇδε occurs in the clause about Mary sitting at Jesus’ feet; the APB’s wording does not isolate the term’s contribution clearly.

In the Anselm Project Bible: In the declaration formulas, the APB varies between “This says,” “says this,” and “These things says”; in James 4:13 it has “this city.” Luke 10:39 does not provide a clear isolated English equivalent.
