Kitharodos refers to harp players whose sound is heard or whose music is absent in the two Revelation scenes.

The term identifies a group of harp players: their playing is compared with a heavenly voice in Revelation 14:2, while their voice is among the sounds no longer heard in Revelation 18:22.

1. Harp players as a heard or silenced group · dominant

   Both occurrences use the genitive plural masculine form in clauses concerning a voice or sound. In Revelation 14:2 the APB renders a voice as being like that of “harpists playing on their harps”; in Revelation 18:22 it renders “voice of harpists” as no longer heard.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the group as “harpists playing on their harps” in Revelation 14:2 and as “voice of harpists” in Revelation 18:22. These are clause-level renderings rather than definitions.
