Enagkalizomai describes taking someone into one’s arms, shown with a child and with those being blessed.

The attested use describes taking a person into one’s arms: a child is embraced in Mark 9:36, and those blessed are taken in his arms in Mark 10:16.

   The same aorist middle participial form occurs in both verses. In Mark 9:36 the APB renders the action after a child is set in their midst as “embracing it”; in Mark 10:16 it renders the action as “taking them in his arms” before blessing and laying hands on them.
