The attested uses mark a stated quantity for groups of people: horsemen and a shipboard total in Acts, relatives in Acts 7:14, and those appointed and later returning in Luke 10:1 and Luke 10:17.

   The form identifies a numerical total or contingent in each setting: in Acts 23:23 the APB renders “seventy horsemen,” in Acts 27:37 it gives the total aboard the boat, and in Acts 7:14 it gives the number of relatives. In Luke 10:1 and Luke 10:17, the same quantity identifies those appointed and then returning.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the quantity as “seventy” in Acts 23:23, while it renders the Luke passages and the other totals with “seventy-two,” “two hundred seventy-six,” and “seventy-five.” These English totals are read as its presentation of the verses rather than as separate meanings of the term.
