gamisko, gamizo denotes arranging or undergoing being given in marriage, in ordinary life and in resurrection sayings.

The attested use concerns giving persons in marriage and, in passive forms, persons being given in marriage. The verses place this practice in ordinary social life, in the days before the flood, and in statements that it does not occur in the resurrection.

1. Giving or being given in marriage · dominant

   Active participles occur where a man gives his virgin in marriage in 1 Corinthians 7:38 and where people were giving in marriage before the flood in Matthew 24:38. Passive forms describe people being given in marriage in the ordinary life of “this age” in Luke 20:34, in the pre-flood scene in Luke 17:27, and as absent in resurrection statements in Luke 20:35, Mark 12:25, and Matthew 22:30.
