The attested use denotes an encounter reached by going out to meet someone: people come out to meet Paul and his companions, attendants are summoned to meet the bridegroom, and those caught up in the clouds meet the Lord.

1. Going out to encounter someone · dominant

   The accusative singular form occurs in clauses of going out or coming to meet another person. In Acts 28:15 the APB renders people coming to meet Paul and his companions; in Matthew 25:6 it renders the command to go out to meet the bridegroom; and in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 it renders being caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord.

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across all three verses, the APB presents the relevant clause with “meet,” including coming to meet travelers, going out to meet the bridegroom, and meeting the Lord. This rendering confirms the clause-level setting rather than isolating every contribution of the noun.
