Anamnesis is a remembering expressed in repeated actions done in relation to Jesus, and in a reminder of sins.

The attested use chiefly marks repeated actions performed in relation to Jesus; in a separate occurrence it identifies the reminder of sins present in sacrifices.

1. Remembrance in repeated observance · dominant

   In 1 Corinthians 11:24 and 1 Corinthians 11:25, the accusative singular form occurs with the instruction to do this in relation to Jesus, following the breaking of bread and the drinking of the cup. Luke 22:19 likewise places it with the command after bread is given; the APB renders these clauses “do this in remembrance of me.”

2. A reminder of sins · rare

   In Hebrews 10:3, the nominative singular form occurs in the statement about sacrifices and sins; the APB renders the clause “there is a reminder of sins year after year.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB renders the three meal-setting clauses “in remembrance of me” and renders Hebrews 10:3 “a reminder of sins.” These renderings confirm the clauses' presentation rather than establish separate English equivalents.
