Jesus’ words describe hostility toward those sent out, while Acts records scattered people proclaiming the word as good news.

Matthew 10:16 calls those sent out to be wise and innocent. Matthew 10:17 warns of being handed over to councils and whipped in synagogues. Mark 13:9 says some will stand before governors and kings because of Jesus, as a testimony to them. John 15:20 says that persecution of Jesus is followed by persecution of his servants. Acts 8:4 states that those scattered went about proclaiming the word as good news.
