Matthew, Mark, and Luke each record the statement that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.
The Bible says, in Matthew 12:8, “For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Mark records, “the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28), and Luke reports the same statement (Luke 6:5). In the Matthew passage, the text also says that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath and compares a human being’s value with that of a sheep (Matthew 12:12).
