The cited passages compare human life and flesh to grass, flowers, and vapor that soon pass away.
The Bible says human mortality is marked by life’s brevity and passing nature. Job describes man as having few days and being full of trouble (Job 14:1). James says that a rich person will pass away like a grass flower (James 1:10) and compares life to a vapor that appears briefly before vanishing (James 4:14). First Peter likewise compares all flesh and its glory to grass and a flower that withers and falls (1 Peter 1:24).
