In 1 Thessalonians 2:19, a “crown of pride” is joined with hope and joy before the Lord Jesus at his coming. 2 Timothy 2:5 says that a competitor is not crowned unless he competes lawfully. In 2 Timothy 4:8, the writer says the righteous Judge will award a crown of righteousness to those who have loved his appearing.
