Creation

The Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth, brought forth light, vegetation, heavenly lights, living creatures, and humanity made in his image (Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:3; Genesis 1:11; Genesis 1:16; Genesis 1:21; Genesis 1:27). The opening account also says that the heavens and earth were finished, and speaks of their generations when the LORD God made them (Genesis 2:1; Genesis 2:4).

The word or idea recurs in at least 44 verses across 13 books and 23 episodes. Deuteronomy refers to the day God created man, while Job records God’s question concerning the foundation of the earth (Deuteronomy 4:32; Job 38:4). Mark says that from the beginning of creation God made them male and female (Mark 10:6).

Romans says that God’s invisible things are perceived through the works from the creation of the world; it also describes creation as waiting, subjected to futility, and groaning, with freedom named in hope (Romans 1:20; Romans 8:19; Romans 8:20; Romans 8:21; Romans 8:22). Elsewhere, the text speaks of a “new creation” in Christ and of people created in Christ Jesus for good works (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10).
