The City of David

The Bible says that the City of David is the stronghold of Zion captured by David, where he resided and built outward from the Millo (2 Samuel 5:7; 2 Samuel 5:9). The word or idea recurs in at least 10 verses across 2 books and 4 episodes. Chronicles says David built the city around the Millo, while Joab restored its remnant (1 Chronicles 11:8). David brought the ark of God to the city with rejoicing; when it entered, Michal saw him leaping and dancing (2 Samuel 6:12; 2 Samuel 6:16). Chronicles also says David made houses there and established a place and tent for the ark (1 Chronicles 15:1).
