Zippor

Zippor is the father of Balak, first named when Balak sees what Israel had done to the Amorite (Numbers 22:2). The passages repeatedly identify Balak as “son of Zippor”; they also call Balak king of Moab (Numbers 22:4). In Joshua, Balak is said to have risen against Israel and sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse them (Joshua 24:9). Zippor’s name occurs in at least seven verses across Numbers, Joshua, and Judges.
