Shecaniah son of Arah is the man named in Nehemiah 6:18 as the father-in-law of an unnamed figure in a report concerning oaths in Judah. The verse says that many in Judah were bound by an oath to that man because he was Shecaniah’s son-in-law. It also names Johanan as that man’s son and says that Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah. Scripture names Shecaniah in at least one verse, all in Nehemiah.
