Maacah Daughter of Absalom is the woman identified in 1 Kings as Abijam’s mother and Absalom’s daughter 1 Kings 15:2. The text also calls her Asa’s mother and says that Asa removed her from her position as queen because she had made a horror for Asherah; Asa cut it down and burned it in the Kidron torrent 1 Kings 15:13. Maacah is named in at least 4 verses in 1 Kings, including another identification as “Maacah the daughter of Absalom” 1 Kings 15:10.
