Levi, Son of Alphaeus

disciple People also: Levi

Levi, Son of Alphaeus, is named as a tax collector whom Jesus called from a tax booth.

Levi, Son of Alphaeus is the tax collector whom Jesus sees at a tax booth and tells, “Follow me,” in Mark 2:14. Mark identifies him as Alphaeus’s son and says that he arose and followed Jesus. Luke likewise names Levi at a tax booth when Jesus speaks the same call in Luke 5:27. Luke also records that Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house, with tax collectors and others reclining in Luke 5:29.
