Isaiah 7:1 names him within the lineage used to identify Ahaz, king of Judah, during an attack on Jerusalem by Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel. The verse says the attackers went up to wage war against Jerusalem but were unable to fight against it. Jotham is named in at least one verse, in Isaiah alone.
