Joseph, Son of Mary is a son named with James in Gospel passages that identify their mother as Mary. He is first named in Matthew 27:56, which calls Mary “the mother of James and Joseph” in a list of women. Mark 15:40 likewise names Mary as the mother of James the younger and Joseph among women watching from a distance. The name Joseph occurs in at least three verses across Matthew and Mark; Mark 15:47 also contains the name Joseph.
