Mary’s husband, whom the Gospels connect with Jesus’ early life and public identification.
Joseph, Husband of Mary is Mary’s husband, first named as betrothed to her, and Luke says Jesus was regarded as his son (Luke 1:27; Luke 3:23). Joseph is named in at least 14 verses across Matthew, Luke, and John. Matthew calls him a just man who planned to release Mary quietly; an angel then told him in a dream to take Mary as his wife, and Joseph did so (Matthew 1:19; Matthew 1:20; Matthew 1:24). Another dream instructed him to take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt (Matthew 2:13).
