Jael

Jael is the wife of Heber the Kenite, first named when Sisera fled to her tent (Judges 4:17). She went out to meet Sisera, invited him to turn aside into the tent, and covered him with a rug (Judges 4:18). Jael took a tent peg and hammer and drove the peg into Sisera’s temple while he was asleep; he died (Judges 4:21). When Barak arrived pursuing Sisera, she showed him Sisera’s body (Judges 4:22). A song calls Jael “most blessed of women” (Judges 5:24).
