Hophni

Hophni is a priest in 1 Samuel, first named at 1 Samuel 1:3. That passage describes Hophni and Phinehas as priests to the LORD. In a later account, the two are with the ark of the covenant of God (1 Samuel 4:4). A sign concerning Hophni and Phinehas says that both will die on one day (1 Samuel 2:34). The account later reports their deaths and the capture of the ark of God (1 Samuel 4:11; 1 Samuel 4:17). Hophni is named in at least five verses in 1 Samuel.
