A Genesis person named when Abraham seeks an intercession with him.
Ephron is a Genesis person first named when Abraham asks those present to intercede with him regarding a burial for Abraham’s dead (Genesis 23:8). The passage calls Ephron son of Zohar (Genesis 23:8). It also identifies him as a Hittite dwelling among the sons of Heth and answering Abraham before those at his city gate (Genesis 23:10).
Abraham weighs out the silver Ephron had stated (Genesis 23:16). Genesis later says Abraham purchased the field and cave at Machpelah from Ephron as a burial possession (Genesis 49:30). Ephron is named in at least 10 verses in Genesis.
