Eliakim son of Hilkiah

Eliakim son of Hilkiah is the servant named in Isaiah who is described as “over the house” (Isaiah 22:20; Isaiah 36:3). He is named in at least 4 verses, all in Isaiah. In one passage, Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah ask the Rabshakeh to speak in Aramaic rather than Judahite because they understand it (Isaiah 36:11). Later, Eliakim and the same officials come to Hezekiah with torn garments and report the Rabshakeh’s words (Isaiah 36:22).
