Ehud, son of Gera, is named as a deliverer raised up for Israel in Judges.
Ehud is the judge in Judges whom the LORD raised up as a deliverer when the children of Israel cried out (Judges 3:15). The passage identifies him as the son of Gera, a Benjaminite, and describes him as left-handed; Israel sent an offering by his hand to Eglon king of Moab (Judges 3:15).
Ehud made a two-edged sword and wore it on his right thigh (Judges 3:16). He later took the sword with his left hand and thrust it into Eglon’s belly (Judges 3:21), then escaped to Seirah (Judges 3:26). Judges later states that Ehud died (Judges 4:1).
