Balak
Balak, son of Zippor, is identified as the king of Moab in the Balaam narrative.
Balak is the son of Zippor and king of Moab who sends for Balaam in the account recorded in Numbers (Numbers 22:4; Numbers 22:10).
Balak is named in at least 41 verses across five books, from Numbers 22:2 to Revelation 2:14. Numbers says that he saw what Israel had done to the Amorite (Numbers 22:2). It also records elders of Moab and Midian coming to Balaam with Balak's words (Numbers 22:7), and states that Balak sent more rulers to Balaam (Numbers 22:15).
When Balaam arrived, Balak asked why he had not come and whether Balak could reward him (Numbers 22:37). Balaam replied that he could speak only what God put in his mouth (Numbers 22:38). Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on an altar after Balak did as Balaam had directed (Numbers 23:2). Balak then said that he had brought Balaam to curse his enemies, but Balaam had pronounced a blessing (Numbers 23:11).
